Our finest summer silk. Doupioni (or dupioni) silk is spun from two or more cocoons, thus it has slubs (longish lumps) along the length of the thread where new fiber was added in to continue the thread. This fabric is woven with both warp and weft and has random crossings of slubs, producing an interesting texture.

This breathable and durable silk is matka* woven, providing a nice drape and resistance to wrinkles that normally occur with a 100% silk jacket.

Matka - Indian term for rough handloomed silk fabric made from very thick silk yarns. The yarns are obtained from short ends of silk and spun by hand without removing the gum. As such, there are slubs and irregularities that give the fabric unique character.
